Under 7 weeksfirst section delivered, ahead of programme

We began work for Birse Civils in Cardiff in June 2010, repaving the High Street. The first section was completed in under seven weeks, teams working seven days a week, with day and night shifts Monday to Thursday, finishing ahead of programme and allowing the paving to extend beyond the planned sectional handover.

The deadline mattered: the completed paving carried the UK’s second national Armed Forces Day parade, attended by HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and around 80,000 members of the public. We worked closely with Birse to keep disruption to residents, businesses and visitors to a minimum, with strict health and safety throughout. Our success on the first phase led to continued work on the scheme.
